Mu.ZEE invites you to explore modern and contemporary art in Belgium, from 1880 to today and beyond. Its collection and temporary exhibitions reveal how artists see the times they live in and the world around them.
Mu.ZEE is home to a collection of more than 8,000 works tracing the development of modern and contemporary art in Belgium. Major artists such as James Ensor, Léon Spilliaert and Constant Permeke are well represented, alongside works by Roger Raveel, Raoul De Keyser and Marthe Wéry, amongst others.
The collection takes you through different periods, styles and generations of artists. Works are presented in new combinations, revealing surprising connections between art from the past and contemporary ideas. Temporary exhibitions also explore individual artists and particular themes.
Mu.ZEE does not focus solely on well-known names. Lesser-known artists and fresh perspectives also have their place. Discover the diversity of art in Belgium since 1880 and how artists continue to respond to one another and the world around them.
